The amazing world of fear....

So it's 6:51 a.m. and here I sit in bed for the 7th day. I'll admit, things are better, but the fear is not. I don't think the fear ever truly goes away when you have stomach issues. The fear I'm talking about is having c-diff again. The fear of having to go through that, the fear of having to deal with another month of uncertainty, the fear of not being able to spend the time that I want with my family. So that is what is on my mind early this morning as my family gets ready to do their daily things while I sit in the bed again.

The constant running to the bathroom has slowed. I only go a few times a day now but still nothing is normal in those trips to the bathroom. Even though my c-diff test came back negative, there are always false negatives. There is this HUGE fear that has hit me like a ton of bricks. This fear has paralyzed me and I feel like I can't even leave my bed. All of this is crazy, because in between bouts of belly issues I feel ok. I could get up and do a few things but the minute I stand up I hear the low gurgle in my stomach and I am once again paralyzed in fear. I know that it's crazy, because the bathroom is nearby and I can run fast if needed. But there it sits, like I sit on the bed....fear.

It's actually kinda funny because I put up a tough act. I act like I can handle anything and most people believe it. But when it comes to this awful c-diff or anything poop related like this....I would rather crawl in a corner and hide from it. I guess surviving c-diff one time is enough to scare the pants off of anyone. The main thing other than the constant fear of pooping in my pants! lol...well, maybe it will be funny one day....is the fear of the unknown. What is this? One c-diff test was negative, but did they test for both strains? Did the person doing the test know what they were doing? I do not like the unknown...it is scary and horrifying.

It's amazing to me how one ounce of fear can send your world into a tailspin. I mean, this not knowing has scared me to the point of never wanting to leave the house.  My goal for today is to move more. Whether that be move around my bedroom or get brave and go into the rest of the house, we'll see. Will update more later!

Update on the so called stomach bug...

Ok so I have had an upset stomach for 5 days. I've tried everything and nothing is working! However, let me say that I have used peppermint oil and Digest on my belly and the cramps ease off! Now, I keep reading miracle cures about these 2 oils stopping diarrhea. Well, unfortunately I can't say that it does stop the upset tummies! But it doesn't always work for everyone.

So at first we thought it was a stomach bug....but after 5 days I should be getting better, right? That's what I thought! I ended up going to the hospital to get fluids the other day because it just seemed like nothing I drank stayed in. Luckily I had been drinking pedialyte (for kids...I know...but quite yummy!). The doctor at the hospital said that I was mildly dehydrated.

Have been running to the bathroom 10-15 times per day since Wednesday. Fortunately I am a fast bathroom sprinter! Now I called my GI and we discussed the possibility of a c-diff relapse. Even though I haven't taken an antiobiotic since my last c-diff bout, it is still slightly possible I could have a relapse. Sometimes the first infection may not have cleared up and it could flare up again. So yes, this sucks a great deal....but luckily my doctor is helping me out with some medication that might just help. We'll see!

Now, back to the essential oils. I've been diffusing shield every day all day through out the house to make sure the others in the family don't get my germs. I'm not saying that it will prevent c-diff, but it will help clean the air of germs!

That's it for now. I'm on day 2 of some medication to help my belly, so time will tell.

Germs, Germs, Germs!!!

I love this time of year! The leaves are changing colors, the weather is getting cooler...it's just perfect...until........the GERMS strike! My son is in elementary school and as many of you know that just spells fall/winter sicknesses everywhere!! So here I sit in the bed with the laptop with a stomach bug. It's 2 days until the Fall festival at my son's school that I am in charge of! So what do I do? First I pray for quick healing!

Second I break out the essential oils. I use Spark Naturals Shield in the difusers (I have one in the living room, my bedroom, and my lil' guy's bedroom).

Shield is a great every day blend. It's a great thing to roll on the bottoms of your feet (mix with a carrier oil) to help prevent sickness. As you can see I was a little slack on using it this week! I've been at my son's school a lot last week and this week, so it was inevitable that I pick up a germ. I am consistent with my son and using the oils but sometimes I get busy and forget to use them on myself everyday.

So the next thing I do is put Shield all over the bottoms of my feet and then put some socks on. After that I put 3 drops of Digest, 3 drops of peppermint and 3 drops of grapeseed oil in my hand and rub it all over my belly.

Here is the information on those oils:

Digest - Great at easing upset stomachs

Peppermint - Great for upset stomachs, headaches and more!

You need to do this every 3-4 hours (shield on feet, and Digest/Peppermint on belly). I've never used this before until today. So far so good. I had an upset stomach and started this and the cramping I had isn't very bad and the upset has stopped for now. So we'll see! I've read wonderful things about this, so I am hoping that it works!
